When we step onto the practice tee we bring our golf clubs and we bring a mindset. The golf clubs are physical items. We see them, feel them as we swing, and hear them as they launch golf balls. Rather than physical, our mindset is psychological. We can’t see it, feel it, or hear it.
While it is obvious that our golf club is launching the ball, less obvious is that our mindset is governing the learning and improvement that we are pursuing. The clubs are numbered. We know what we are swinging and what each is supposed to do. How can we know our mindset and its effect on our progress? Portrayed in this graphic are the two polar extremes of mindset. On the left is the Growth Mindset, and on the right is the Fixed Mindset.
Consider printing a copy of this and taking it with you for your next practice session. After a dozen swings, take a look at the graphic and decide which mindset you are experiencing.
Bottom Line: Your practice sessions experience an “upgrade” as you migrate from Fixed to Growth.
Each Thursday we’ll bring you a helpful insight.
