Record more than a number on your scorecard. The numbers tell you what you did. They don’t tell you how you did it. Importantly they don’t tell you how to get better.
Look at the scorecard below. Bill has recorded his score on the holes but he has also noted how he performed those shots on those holes. In his case two things are apparent: his drives and approaches are consistently right of target and his pitch shots leave him long, low-probability putts.
Now, with this information, Bill can invest his practice time to target those aspects of his game that will have the best impact.
Bottom Line: Consider having your scorecard tell you both “how” you scored and how you can score better.
